And all I have to say about it is OOOOOOAAHHWAHAHAHAAUHHGGGHHGHWAAAA!
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
It is easily the best thing I have ever driven. Sweet Jesus, it was like a cloud — a sexy, fast, sexy, sexy, cloud.
Unfortunately it had 140k miles, never had timing belt serviced (thank you, nice lady at Audi of Bellevue who looked up the service history for me :D), leaked and burned oil like crazy, had a strong almost dizzying smell inside when idling, and was being sold by an incredibly shady dealership, and had previously bounced around four other dealerships without selling. Also, they claimed it didn’t leak oil, and then I showed them it definitely did, then they came back and said it had the valve cover gaskets just replaced. To which I replied: then why is it still leaking and burning oil? He said it was residual. Right. He also wouldn’t produce said service record (all the others were in the glovebox) of the service that the dealership allegedly just paid for. He said “if it still leaks after you buy it, we stand behind out work, they will definitely fix it for you.” HAHAHA right, not based on all your reviews that entail NOT standing behind anything you do or say. And also there’s nothing TO stand behind because you don’t even have said service record of said repair. At the very end, the “best [he] could do” was $235 off of asking price. HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA Goodbye.
Where do I go from here? I may one day shell out for a good one, because holy shit what a wonderful drive it was — outside of feeling nauseous from the fumes.

I’ve ridden in a bit of a turned up version of that and considering what year it was from its seriously fast.
Yes. I know someone with a B5 S4 avant.

Run away!!!!

That’s what I did. Would have definitely bought it for 3. He wouldn’t go below $4500 after fees and shit. Consider the $1500 belt service, the holy shit who knows where the oozing oil is coming from, oh and the leaking AC I forgot to mention, I’m like past $7000 if I want to last 6 months.

They’re such awesome cars but so expensive to fix. If you don’t have to have manual you might look at A4 wagons.

But now that I’ve experienced the german mañuel, how can I go back
![]() 10/15/2016 at 20:18 |

This is very true.

I don’t know how your A4 is, but the clutch pedal on this was so light. Like, I wasn’t sure if I was pressing it light.

They are very light. I have to remind myself to stab it coming off the line.

I’m like past $7000 if I want to last 6 months get home.
FIFY

Not far off from my plan. Once I knew the belt hadn’t been serviced, I actually planned to just put in the garage and get it done this month. But that 10 mile drive... still playing roulette on 140k miles.

Isn’t the belt on the back of these engines? Or was that some other Audi?
![]() 10/15/2016 at 20:25 |

Easy as hell to drive. Oh well, back to old Toyotas for now, I guess.

That’s the wonderful 4.2
I thiiiiiiink it might on the front on the 2.7T? Either way, forums say it costs between 1250 and 1900 depending on where you get it done (that’s with the full kit I believe though).

They’re comfy. I’m watching this one

Owning an Audi is not for the faint of heart and it is truly a sacred journey.
Should you choose the 4 rings... there is no going back. Pick the cleanest, well kept model possible and pepper thine angus.
Welcome... to the Audi world.

I love it when dealerships mention the original MSRP. “Oh honey! This $50k Audi is only $19k now!” said hopefully no one ever [but obviously someone must have at some point].”

Yes, which is why I feel good about walking away from this one. Looks like I’ll have to pay up to find a truly good one.

Yeah my car was 36k new in 2004, now. I couldn’t get 5k

Did you get yours new?
![]() 10/15/2016 at 21:04 |

No I’ve only had it for 4 years. I traded in my 2008 4runner for it (at Drive Auto) to get out of a loan. Needed to free up some cash to buy the house.

Dude, is something going on at DriveAuto? They’re inventory is kind of... spooky. They have some sadder looking vehicles, an old S10, and an automatic 2001 Honda Accord sedan. I think they even have some Caravans...
![]() 10/15/2016 at 21:16 |
|
They move a lot of inventory. Half the time they can’t update their website fast enough. They fill that niche for people that don’t / can’t go to a big brand dealership.
Holy shit this wind is nuts!

There’s nothing but a light breeze here.

Used Audis. One way or another, you are getting the manual. You can’t get out of it.

That GIF is the real life Pam Poovey. Brilliant.
I’m drunk and this is funny.

German manual cars man... Just something about it. Sucks you couldn’t go for that one. If you want a AWD German car how about a e30 325ix? They are excellent to drive, even with the AWD system

There ya go buddy, now you know how addicting these damn things are.
But I agree that it’s good you passed on that particular one. You really need a clean, low mileage one with a good service history.
It’s awesome how they just carry themselves forward with little effort.

Like I said, I’d take a gamble for a few Gs, but “$3,735 plus fees is the best I can do” is not good enough.
![]() 10/16/2016 at 19:22 |

That is poopoo, that sounds like a $2,500 car.
Enthusiast owned and old people owned Allroads are the way to go.
![]() 10/16/2016 at 19:27 |

It doesn’t need to be german or AWD, I’ve just always wanted to drive an allroad ever since I first saw one 15 years ago.

Really a shame. Everything worked. Everything. Even the air suspension. Under the hood is when things got spooky...
Exceeded my expectations in every conceivable way.

Wow, that’s pretty great.
Too bad the rest of it was not so much though hah.

Ah okay. A friend’s mom had a V8 when I was growing up. Cool car. Don’t know what happened to it, she drives a GLC now.

And yet I was still about to buy it. That guy will kick himself for refusing to negotiate. A day later, I’m thinking I was wise to walk away.
![]() 10/16/2016 at 19:40 |

You made a good decision walking away from it.
Burning oil and leaking oil are bad. I’m still 10000% sure my A6 didn’t leak or burn oil at all haha.
It’s also sketchy that he didn’t show you the service records. I’m guessing they are just for either oil changes or wiper blades.
![]() 10/16/2016 at 19:42 |

I wouldn’t have trusted it anyways. What they do there is send cars to this shitty repair shop that I’m sure they pay under the table to claim certain services were completed.

Yup, more likely.
